Just the usual, someone misspelling copyright, this time two different ways twice in a row in an IRC conversation. Happens all the time.

Or, I could say that what inspired this was more than two decades of mild low-level annoyance with a couple of very common misconceptions about copyright, and the fact that the common misspelling "copywrite" reinforces both of them. I might've written this post a long time ago, just happened to do it this time.
