recommended reading

petra_quince has been posting again recently. Take a look.

That reminds me to plug Read These, my public friends filter of people who often post cool stuff you'd want to read even if you don't know them. Quality varies, depending on what the various people I put in that filter are up to, but right now thanks to petra_quince and redheadedmuse's recent posts, it's looking pretty good. kaoskytton is a nice new addition, too.

It's less about how interesting you are, and more about what you use your LJ for. If someone friends-locks all their posts, for example, then there's no point in putting them in the group. If most of their public posts are life updates, then I think that'd most be interesting to people who know them, so I don't add them to this group. If you used your LJ primarily for posting your comics and your reflections associated with them, I'd probably add you to it, but that's not to say that I think you should do that. (Actually you probably knew most of this, but I'm writing it for future visitors to this post :)

Then again, there are rare exceptions like petra_quince, who posts rarely and generally does write about her life or things that she saw or experienced... but writes so well it almost doesn't matter what she's writing about. Which is why I made this post to specifically recommend her journal.

Oh, I know. And I was using the journal for comics for awhile, but I've been slacking off for the past few weeks. And so what I mean by "start being interesting" is "get off my lazy ass and start drawing something."

There are journals on my friends list that I never miss, because these are good friends of mine, but I know that to someone who doesn't know them, it just wouldn't be interesting. And most of the time my journal's the same way, much as I'd like to pretend otherwise.

on an associated note, I'm curious what appeals to you about kaoskytton....I've added her and so far she doesn't really strike me keenly at all, so I wanted your input before i unfriend her.

Something about kaoskytton's info page makes me think this isn't the recommendation cos meant to make...

It's a retired journal. She deleted or moved all the entries, a few years ago.
