Really easy to get Covid tests with insurance!

Running low on covid tests we bought before they had to be covered by insurance, so I decided to check out how I can get them now that they're covered. Went to my local CVS pharmacy counter and asked how it works. They looked up my insurance info - they already had it since I have gotten prescriptions filled there, but I assume I could've just given my card if they didn't have it - and they told me I get up to 8 tests (four boxes) every 30 days. They said they could fill it as a prescription, and 10 minutes later they handed me a bag with four boxes of the BinaxNOW test. No payment needed.

If you're in the US, and haven't done this yet, hope knowing this is helpful! Pass it on!

This varies by insurance, so check with your employer and carrier. My company switched to Cigna (ugh) this year, who make everything as hard as possible. They do not participate in the pharmacy program, and for the first few months required a FAXED form. (They finally have an online form.)

Don't ever work someplace that uses Cigna. They're so bad in so many ways.

Weird, I didn't know they had to be covered by insurance now. Big G still pays for me to have a Cue device and up to 20 cartridges per month, so I'm mostly using that instead of OTC antigen tests.

Sadly, the ease of the experience with CVS isn't universal. It wasn't terrible, but I did have to go through their online prompts to learn that my insurance (one of the Aetna plans) isn't participating. The only real difference was that I had to order online for in-store pickup and then submit a reimbursement claim to my insurance company. They at least had an online portal for that explicit purpose, and my reimbursement came through without issue.

Still, much easier than before.
