I think it would be greeted with a collective shrug, but I take your point and will play along.

My concern is that this would not so much increase support for Sanders as it would drag down Clinton. Sanders has played this issue in a very genteel way - I was listening to one of his speeches last night and he was calling on Clinton to release the text of her (paid-for) remarks. He also joked that he wondered why no one from Wall Street was offering him a quarter million dollars to speak. But he's not using the "Senator from Wall Street" label, nor is he directly attacking her for taking these speaking engagements.

I do not expect the Republicans to follow such genteel lines. It would just give them ammo to obfuscate Trump's billionaire/1% status. I think the same would be true for any unexpected surprise - the amount it would drag Ms Clinton down is far greater than the amount it would buoy Mr Sanders up.

The kinds of surprises I've been hoping for have not happened - for example, Sanders is scoring well with young African-American voters. Exit polls suggest he's beating Clinton 2:1 with that demographic. But the surprise would have been having thousands more young voters of color turning out on primary day and upsetting the tallies. It hasn't happened and I don't expect it to.
