Some people love cut tags, other people hate them. I know there are several people who read my journal, who do not ever click through cut tags - if it's cut, they just won't read it. Personally, I think one should cut when posting inline images, because otherwise people's friends pages can get filled with a variety of images from a variety of different sources, which really slows things down and makes it much more likely the page will fail to load altogether. Large unwrappable stuff (like a long line of text with no spaces) should also be cut, to avoid making people's friends pages scroll horizontally. But when a post has no inline images and wraps nicely, I try to avoid using cut unless it really feels necessary (like multiple pages of preformatted text, or something), for the benefit of those readers who really hate cuts.
