The most interesting thing to me about Israel is that every time I have to talked to someone from there about politics and the situation or history there, I always get a completely different opinion or perspective.
This Israeli girl I met in NZ said that the thing she identified most intensely with Israel was multiculturalism. Said there were something like 70 political parties there at the time. Whenever I hear about Ariel Sharon and Likud, I think about the political diversity of the country.
