I agree that using different terminology does perpetuate that. However, second-class citizen status is better than last-class citizen status, which is what we have under NO UNIONS OF ANY KIND. If an alternate class of unions is established for same sex couples and *GASP* it doesn't destroy families *GASP*, I think the legislation to correct terminology should be easier to pass. I truly believe that although baby steps may not be IDEAL or JUST or GOSH-DARN-IT-ETHICAL-AND-FAIR, they *are* practical and they *do* work.
