On December 31st, just before leaving Tampa to head to the Everglades, I took a tour of Big Cat Rescue. I haven't postprocessed or posted the photos yet, but I just put together this video from a few clips:

Missed some of the best parts, because this cat kept doing things or vocalizing right after I'd stop the camera :)

I'm going to be touring Florida with a friend the first week in July, visiting friends and my entire family, hitting many of the places you went on your journey. We'll be starting around Fort Myers Beach (for a friend's wedding), going past the Everglades as we continue across I-75 to Fort Lauderdale (to see a sibling), up A1A and/or I-95 to Palm Bay (to visit parents and sibling and meet sibling-in-law and nibling), continuing up past Merritt Island and then across Orlando on our way to Crystal River (another sibling), down to Tampa (yet another sibling), then St Petersburg (for the Dali museum, natch), and then flying home from Sarasota (where a friend is).

Do you have any must-see recommendations? We aren't making a set plan (apart from being at the wedding, of course, and hoping to be at my parents' for the 4th), instead trying to enjoy ourselves at whatever pace feels right, having a list of cool things, but only doing the ones we end up having the time and inclination to pursue. We like flora and fauna, and she likes seafood. The Everglades would be great, but I've never been without being a part of a group that had plans already set up. After your post about it, Merritt Island is a thought. Her one specific request was a big cat rescue (in addition to the one you went to, there's Big Cat Habitat in Sarasota). Any input you have would be appreciated.

I was already home by the time you replied, lol. We had a great time. We did the Dali Museum and Big Cat Rescue, both of which were awesome. We skipped the Everglades and Merritt Island, but we ended up at a couple of other nature preserves/sanctuaries which were just lovely. So much wildlife!

I am confused. Is this actually a cougar on catnip?

Did I take the subject line too literally? Was it given catnip before the video? Something else?

It is actually a cougar on catnip.

Because I kept turning off the camera and then turning it back on right after the cougar did something cool that it often stopped as soon as I turned the camera back on, I made this video out of a few short clips but can't clearly remember what happened "before" vs. in between the clips.
