[livejournal.com profile] greyhame recently linked to some discussions on blogs about hating the word "blog". Personally I don't mind the word at all, and I even refer to livejournals as "blogs" sometimes. But I think they have a point when they talk about "blogosphere" being a silly word. Every once in a while I write something where I need to use a word for that concept, and though I usually end up writing "blogosphere" it's usually after spending thirty seconds trying to think of ways to avoid using that word. So, I skimmed through Rox Populi's comment thread where people were suggesting terms we could use instead. And then I cracked up:

The utter angularity of their outfits makes me afraid of tripping and impaling myself on them.

Just what I needed.

Another irrational fear. ;)

I understand not liking the word blog. It's unpleasent to say. Honestly, it's just a dull word that drags on and on and on.

BLOOOOOG

This is why I use LiveJournal. I mean, aside from it being the best. It's a very happy word. Even the shortened version (El-Jay) which looks rediculous typed out, is fun to say. LiveJournal is easily verbed to LiveJournaling, though Blogging has the same charactarisitc, so it's not really an advantage either way.
