Help beat Joe Lieberman

I'm heading down to Connecticut either tonight or early tomorrow morning, to volunteer for Ned Lamont, running against Joe Lieberman in the Democratic primary. Election day is tomorrow, Tuesday, August 8th. Anyone wanna tag along and help?

Schedule depends on whether the Lamont people find a place for me (us) to stay tonight, and/or tomorrow night. Probably spending the day in Willimantic (east of Hartford) and going to Meriden later. If you wanna come, text me, email my pager, or IM my phone. Or If you live in CT and wanna put me up for a night :)

Morning rush at this polling place, 8-9am, we had 18 voters - I think that's heavy turnout for a primary.

I wonder why joe is even bothering to stay in the primary. After all, if he's going to run as an independent even when ^H^H^H^H if he loses, what's the point in pretending he cares about the democratic process?

Ah, well, perhaps I answered my own question.

On the one hand, he could still win. He doesn't have as many supporters as we do, but I suspect that his supporters are more regular primary voters, and voting is a habit: it's hard to get people who don't usually vote in primaries, to vote in a primary.

On the other hand, if we beat him by a lot, he won't run as an independent. Where "a lot" is at least 5% and may be as much as 10%.

Hey, I noticed you have Trina Hamlin in your interests! I love her so much that I had to make sure she played the Porcupine Mountains Music Festival (http://www.porkiesfestival.org) this year (August 25, 26, 27). Thanks. I won't be anywhere near the UP then, got a campaign to work on back here in MA, but a comment about the web site: Don't make people wonder where the event is. As it stands now, people visting the web site who don't already know about the festival, will spend a while with their eyes wandering trying to figure out where it is because the location is buried in the block of text, which most new visitors won't start reading until after they've determined whether the event is relevant to them - or after they've spent a while frustratedly looking around trying to figure it out, and not finding the answer, start reading the text to see if it's there. Instead, it should be the most obvious, stand-out thing on the page: What the event is, when it is, where it is (you've got 2 out of 3).
