Allstonian rats

Yesterday, hanging out in Allston with chaoticerotic and anna_phylaxis, we saw a hairless one-eyed albino rat. We didn't see a pirate, but there had to have been one, don't you think?

The cute girl with bright red hair minding the counter at the pet store - well, actually, she was lying on her back on the floor behind the counter, but she sat up when we started talking to her - told us about how she'd seen some women come up to the window and say disparaging things about the hairless rats, and she went outside and demanded they apologize to them.

chaoticerotic said she wants to buy the hairless one-eyed albino rat before she leaves Boston and take him home with her to Albany. If she does that, he'll be a hairless one-eyed Albanian albino rat.

Go Rats!

Actually in doing research on hairless cats (Sphynx) recently I found that for what ever reason hairless cats, and hairless rats tend to have extreemly sweet dispositions! (Though you have to wash them weekly, and pay more attention to the ambient temprature where they live) due to skin issues with being hairless).

That would be my main concern with hairless breeds, having to be very careful with the possibility of their contracting skin conditions. Then too, I think I'd probably worry about hurting them by touching them, whereas I know that if I rub down a regular cat I won't damage him.

eeblet pointed this out to me: Those Microsoft optical mouses anna_phylaxis and I use at work... have no hair. Are white. Have this one red eye on the bottom, the optical mouse sensor. Red eye, white, must be albino!

You could name the rat... IntelliPoint!

And y'know it's funny...I'd added cos to my friends list before i met him,after seeing his name pop up after a 'polyamory' search.He seemed neat...and then it turns out my old friend anna_phylaxis is his co-worker...so I met him finally!At Ceremony,actually.

I actually rescued 14 hairless rats from an animal shelter last year, and gave them as a gift to the then girlfriend of mine. She loved them. Turns out, some of them had red eyes and were very rare.

Huh. I think this rat's one eye was red. Does that necessarily mean it's of a very rare breed?

Let me research this and get back to you.

The rats came from a very bad home. The owners basically moved out and left them there for a long time. They were very abused and were about to all be destroyed. Drove like three hours to get them. Macie gave them a real good home. She was going to give them away to other people over time, but ended up falling in love with them all. :P
