In case you haven't made up your mind yet, or are just curious, I made another post in baystate about what I think the major issues contrast between Martha Coakley and Mike Capuano is.
I wish I'd thought to look at your journal before I went out to vote in the primary, but what is done is done.
In the meantime, can you tell me whether I should be taking seriously the panicked emails I've been getting from MoveOn.org about how the Republicans are poised to win Kennedy's Senate seat? If so, what (if anything) should as MA citizens be doing about it (other than... you know... voting)?
Coakley will probably win, but turnout in special elections is usually very low, which means the most motivated voters have more disproportionate influence than usual, which gives Republicans an occasional chance to do well in the sort of Massachusetts election they'd normally get clobbered in. That's why Niki Tsongas' election to Congress seems so close.
Vote, and remind people you know to to vote. The more reminders people get that this Tuesday is election day (and that they should vote absentee in person if they won't be able to on Tuesday), the more people will vote. In a big presidential or governor election, people are already getting so many reminders that the effect of more reminders is much smaller than it will be in this election. Also, ask individual people, individually, to vote / whether they will vote. That's most effective.
