recommend a place for a sorta-vacation?

On the one hand, I have a 5 day weekend: We have Wednesday through Friday as a company holiday at work.

On the other hand, I'm secondary on call for a week starting Thursday. Secondary means I am not likely to get many calls, or perhaps even any calls, but I still need to be available to take a call and get online within ten minutes and work.

I'd like to find a pretty place to take someone for a couple of days, not far from here, where we could stay and relax and hang out and pretend to be on vacation while still being able to work on short notice. Ideally such a place would be/have:

- Within about a 2 hour drive from Boston

- Good wifi and/or very good Verizon signal

- Convenient indoors & outdoors; indoors with a desk and AC and power and stuff, outdoors just a doorway or porch away with pretty nature

- DVD player with TV, or screen that easily takes video from a MacBook, so we can watch movies

- Water, particularly swimmable water, like being on a lake or stream. Water that is even a short drive away is not practical; water we could go in but still hear a phone and get back indoors within minutes would be excellent

Do you know a place like that to recommend?

Edit: What I mean by "a place" is a specific place, rather than a general area where such places might exist. I know the area (Berkshires, Cape, Maine, etc.), I just don't know specific places to stay that are like I describe. I'm sure there are plenty, but there isn't an easy way to search online by those characteristics, so they're hard to find when I don't already know them.

Yeah, all of those general areas are good ones, the hard part is finding a specific place to stay that has the attributes I want.

Since this isn't the sort of thing I normally look for (normally not having good net for a couple of days, and having to go a few miles to a good swimming spot, are no problem), I can't think of any places that I've been to like this.

The Cape? Plenty of good stuff, swimming pools at hotels with wifi, even in sandwich and bourne, which are only about 90 mins away.

I would not be surprised if there are places like this on the Cape, but that's why I'm asking: Do you know any to recommend?

I've stayed there a few times in the past few years, wifi has been good for me, and they have both and indoor and outdoor pool. There are rooms RIGHT at the indoor pool, not sure if those are larger rooms or what, but certainly you can get cell reception to hear your phone ring there.

I can't speak for their wireless, or lack thereof, but Dennis Port is really nice. I know Arisia booked their relaxacon down there at the http://www.corsaircrossrip.com/ and http://www.threeseasonsresort.com/ hotels. I have good ATT cell connectivity there, but I can't speak for Verizon. It is not obvious to me if the rooms have wireless, but Arisia SMOFs might know.

I haven't spent a lot of time in those hotels or that immediate area in half a lifetime, but I used to haunt those beaches when I was a kid.

I recommended Coppertoppe Inn in Hebron, NH yesterday. There was also the Old Orchard Inn in NH near the sea, although I didn't research that one as well and have never been there.

Coppertoppe seems like potentially a good option, though they were already fully booked for this weekend when I called on Tuesday.
